Power Tools

To prevent having to buy new tools more often than is necessary, it’s time to start looking after your power tools. Whether it’s your hedgetrimmers, your chainsaw, your strimmer, your drill or your blower, if you give it some care it’ll last much longer and therefore save you money.

How do i look after the metal surface of my tool?

  1. Clean off any dirt or build up on the blades or any other metalic parts of your tool
  2. Spray the surface of your metal tools with general purpose oil – this acts as a preventative to rusting. You should make sure you do this to all the blades of your tool.
  3. Switch the tool on – this will move the oil so that it fully covers all the areas of the tool.
  4. Do this regularly and your tool should remain rust-free and last longer!

What if my power tool seems to be damaged?

  1. Check that the plugs are working correctly – is the fuse ok? Are the flexes frayed?
  2. Ensure that oil is filled up and your fuel is fresh.
  3. If there is a cut cable then make sure you replace it or make it safe.
  4. If the tool still seems to be damaged then it is wise to take it to a professional for their opinion.
