What material is for me?

Wood – a decent timber shed will blend in to the garden naturally, be affordable and provide a good storage space. Timber sheds are treated so they are durable in different weather conditions, yet you will need to maintain this treatment so that you steer clear of mould and general deterioration.
Metal – metal sheds are probably the best if you want to keep maintenance to a minimum (as if you don’t have enough to do with your garden, let alone a shed!). Metal sheds are also a cheaper option.

Size wise

The first question is, what are you going to use your shed for? Storing your tools, gardening fork, mower and then your bike and ski’s too? Or are you going to work in it?
You also need to look at your outdoor space and measure accurately the area that you want your shed to fit in to – it needs to be the most suitable part of your garden.
If you are going to work inside the shed, make sure you can stand up comfortably – you don’t want to be hunched over every time you stand! Make sure, as well as height, that you get something with appropriate access for what you need. Are you going to be taking large and bulky things in and out of the doorway? You may need an extra wide door for this.
Style – sheds usually come in apex or pent roofed styles. Apex is the triangular sloping shape, which is sturdy and a popular choice. Pent sheds have the single sloping roof which allows for the rain to run off, they are also good for extra head room inside and work well against a wall or right next to your house.
